LSA’s Employment Law Project surpasses £1,000,000 in awards
Legal Services Agency is proud to share that our Employment Law Project has helped improve individuals’ financial circumstances by over £1,000,000.
Our Employment Law Project provides employment advice to people throughout Scotland. We also provide support to fellow grassroots advice agencies and aim to bring together stakeholder expertise to challenge inequality and injustice in the workplace.
This achievement represents hundreds of people who have been assisted in upholding their employment rights through the project, and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employment team.
On this milestone, our trainee solicitor on the project, Michael Sweeney, has said: “I am pleased to have worked with my supervisor Stuart Swan to help to achieve this milestone figure. In addition, I think that the sharing of employment law knowledge and the connections made with organisations such as the Citizens Rights Project have been additional positive outcomes of the Employment Law Project.”
These achievements would not have been possible without funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. The Employment Law Project’s funding will end in March 2025.
Job loss, or the threat of job loss, can have knock-on effects on a person’s life, leading to adverse financial circumstances and additional problems. By providing early legal advice, we can prevent unnecessary hardship from arising.
We will seek to secure funding to continue this essential service, and to continue successfully defending employment rights.
